10 Ways We Respond to Community
Since September 2024 we have worked to connect with North Enders to see what they would like to see from our work in the history sector.
Here are 10 ways we have responded to the requests and needs of our community:
Reporting Back: Our monthly General Meetings provide a regular opportunity for us to report back and ask for help or clarity from community members.
Online: We have created a website (this one) and social media presence intended to share information about how people can participate
Field Trips: We want to explore the galleries, libraries, museums & archives that carry and protect the stories in our community
Arts & Culture: Focus beyond the built environment on the people, stories, art & culture that happens when community is built
Archives: After visiting various archives in the city, we hope to continue expanding our knowledge and skills in this area.
Fire Safety: We recognize the fires happening to homes and historic buildings so we started a fire plan. partners and next steps needed!
Research: We would like to engage academic and historical institutions in North End specific research for walking tours & other community celebrations
Developmental Evaluation: One of the principles helping us is learning as we go, acknowledging mistakes and adjusting as needed.
Consultations: Beginning in the summer of 2026, we have begun hosting community consultations on the future of The Palace Theatre
Incorporation: We have decided to incorporate an Indigenous led entity that focuses on art, culture & community development
